If you want your personal ads to be effective, here are a few tips from a real woman who reads them everyday.
1. Be your honest self and describe exactly what you are looking for, not what you think women want to hear. We don't believe all the fluff about sunsets and holding hands and walking on the beach.
2. Do not submit photos of your naked body or parts. Women prefer to see your face and a well dressed man is more sexy, especially if you are over age 35.
3. Everyone looks at the ads with photos first, so if you want your ad to be read, attach a photo. The more women who read your ad, the more responders you will get.
4. Smile in your photograph! The guys that shoot photos looking "tough" just come across looking like serial killers or wife beaters. That will seriously cut down on the number of responders.
5. Remember that for women, responding to a personal ad is like applying for a job. Before we spend the effort, we want to know what qualifications are required, so list some specific age ranges, body shapes, race, personality traits, etc. The more we see that matches, the more likely we feel we have a chance so it is worth our time to reply.
6. Along the same line, clearly state what type of relationship you are wanting: NSA, LTR, FWB, etc. Just like a job ad, the woman needs to understand to what she is reponding. This improves the quality of who responds.
7. To the jerks that post phoney photos of models: Just stop! You are wasting everyone's time.
8. Tell some basic facts about yourself to generate interest from the woman. Age, body shape, race, education, career, hobbies, passions, etc. What makes you different and interesting? Why should she respond to your ad instead of the next one?
9. Make your postings easy to read using good grammar and punctuation. Who can make sense of a paragraph of giant run-on sentences? Good grammar is considered a sign of intelligence by the reader. Some postings look like they are written by drunk monkeys pounding on the keyboard. Unfortunately, there aren't any drunk female monkeys to respond to them.
